Report of widespread and arbitrary detentions in cities of Kurdistan

While the nationwide internet shutdown by the Iranian regime with the aim of severely suppressing protests and creating an atmosphere of martial law has entered its eighth day, reports indicate the continuation of widespread and arbitrary arrests of citizens in various cities of Kurdistan.

Based on the information received, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, Hoshyar Shabani, a former political prisoner from Baneh, was detention without any judicial warrant.

Also, on Monday, January 12, 2026, Kia Moradi, a member of the victim’s family and the niece of the late Peyman Manbari from Sna (Sanandaj), was detention, and on Tuesday, January 13, Hossein Moradi and Jalil Moradi, both from the city of Lomar in the Ilam province, were detained.

In addition, Navid Abdullahi, a citizen of the city of Kani Dinar and one of the detainees of the 2020 protests, was detained without a judicial warrant on December 26, 2025, before the start of the nationwide protests.

It should be noted that all of these detention were made without any judicial warrants, and as of the time of writing this report, no detailed information is available regarding the health status and possible charges against these citizens.
