The Kurdistan Human Rights Association reports with grave concern the recent order of the Attorney General of the Islamic Republic to identify and seize the property of protesters, which, in addition to street repression, detention, and communication restrictions, indicates an expansion of the means of pressure on activists and protesters. According to reports, judicial authorities have introduced protesters with titles such as “terrorists” and have called for the seizure of their property, which could lead to the confiscation of citizens’ property and economic pressure on families.
This order comes at a time when protests in various places are facing severe security clashes and independent information about the status of detainees is limited. Such a policy, in addition to confiscating property, further narrows the civil space and threatens the fundamental rights to property and a fair trial.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Association condemns these actions and calls for an end to the all-out repression of protesters, the guarantee of citizens’ legal rights, and full transparency in the judicial and executive processes. These practices not only discourage peaceful protests, but also have profound economic and social consequences for society.
