Behnam Mosivand’s hunger strike in protest against the transfer of Rajaei Shahr prison in Karaj
KMMK:
On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Behnam Mosivand, a political prisoner from Nahavand, started a hunger strike again after being transferred to Rajaei shahr prison despite his poor physical condition.
According to the report, the security forces severely beat him from Evin Prison to Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj and upon his arrival, he was transferred to the solitary cell of this prison.
In a phone call with his family, this political prisoner said that, “as soon as he was transferred to solitary confinement, he went on a hunger strike and refused to eat sugar and salt and only drinks water.” Due to the refusal of Behnam Mosivand to be handcuffed and bound, the prison authorities refused to transfer him to medical centers despite his serious physical condition.
It is worth mentioning that four days after the hunger strike of this political prisoner, his condition worsened and he suffered from stomach bleeding.
It should be noted that Behnam Mosivand had already gone on hunger strike from April 19 to May 5 of this year in protest of being handcuffed and bound to the hospital.
In 2017, Behnam Mosivand was arrested in Tehran by the Iranian security forces. Then, in 2019, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion with the intention of acting against the security of the country, and on the charge of propagandizing against the regime to one year in prison” and this sentence was confirmed objectively in the Court of Appeal of the Government of Iran in Tehran.
