According to a report received by KMMK News association, a female prisoner named Maryam Kaviani, 39, from Khorramabad, was executed on Wednesday, February 7, 2025, in Parsilon Prison, Khorramabad. She had been sentenced to death on charges of murdering her husband.
Maryam Kaviani was arrested five years ago for the alleged murder of her husband. After going through legal proceedings, her death sentence was carried out today.
According to an informed source, another female prisoner who was also scheduled to be executed today was granted a two-month reprieve to pay diyah (blood money) and was returned to solitary confinement.
The execution of this female prisoner comes amid ongoing debates and criticism from human rights activists regarding the death penalty.
