Bapir Barzeh has gone on a hunger strike

According to the report of the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, Bapir Barzeh, a political prisoner from the village of “Chianeh” in the city of Piranshahr (Piranshar), has been on strike since Saturday, September 18, in the Iranian government prison in the Naqadeh.

According to the report received, this political prisoner has gone on strike in protest of the transfer from open prison to closed prison.

It should be noted that following a complaint from the intelligence service, this political prisoner was transferred from an open prison to a closed prison.

His request for parole has so far been rejected by Iranian courts without any legal reason.

He was sent on sick leave on October 11, after 8 days of contracting the Corona virus.

It’s noteworthy that in August of this year, the sentence of Bapir Barzeh in the first branch of the Iranian Court of Appeals in the city of Urmia was reduced from four years to two years and six months.
He was sentenced to 8 months in prison by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court on February 30, 2019 on charges of “collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties in the Iranian government” and was released on 220 million Toman bail after the trial court ruled.

He was arrested by security forces on December 26 and transferred to the IRGC’s intelligence detention center in Urmia for interrogation.
