According to data collected by the KMMK news department, the past week has seen a worrying increase in the number of suicides and violent murders. Systematic poverty, economic pressures, and the lack of social support continue to claim many lives.
Rising Suicides Across Different Cities
Local reports indicate that at least ten people ended their lives in various cities:
• Mohammad Javad Sayyadi – Khorramabad
• Pouria Saraie – Ilam
• Mahan Sadeghi – Qorveh
• Mohammad Reza Garaviz – Kuhdasht
• Ahmad Reza Rashidi – Abdanan
• Fardin Khosronejad – Saqqez
• Behrouz Karimi – Sonqor
• Mona Amozadeh – Abdanan
• Mohammad Kalhouei – Nahavand
• Salah Sedighi – Sardasht
Most of these suicides have been attributed to economic struggles, social pressures, and mental health crises. The increasing numbers highlight the deepening economic and social crises that severely impact citizens’ mental well-being.
Violent Murders with Unclear Motives
Alongside the wave of suicides, last week also witnessed several violent murders, some involving firearms. One of the most brutal incidents was the shooting of three young men from Kuhdasht while they were inside their car. The victims have been identified as:
• Erfan Niazi – Kuhdasht
• Ali Doosti – Kuhdasht
• Reza Bahrami – Kuhdasht
Additionally, the following murders were reported:
• Arman Jaberi – Hamedan
• Mehrab Jafari – Miandoab
• Amir Reza Sheikhi – Khorramabad
• Sajad Ahmadi – Kuhdasht
The perpetrators of these crimes have not yet been identified or arrested, and the motives remain unclear. The surge in violence has raised concerns about public safety and further exposed the authorities’ inability to address social crises effectively.
The recent spike in suicides and violent crimes has once again demonstrated that officials are not taking meaningful steps to resolve these crises. Instead, misguided economic policies, social repression, and neglect of citizens’ livelihoods are exacerbating the situation. Widespread poverty, uncontrolled inflation, and the lack of social security have pushed many to the brink of psychological collapse.
