Identification of Seven Protesters Killed in January Protests Confirmed

The identities of seven citizens who lost their lives during the January protests have been confirmed.

According to reports, during the popular protests on Thursday 8 January and Friday 9 January 2026, at least seven Kurdish citizens were killed in various cities across Iran after being directly shot by Iranian security forces.

Those identified include Anis Garivani and Morteza Yaghoubi (41), both Kurdish citizens from Esfarayen, who were killed during the protests.
Mojtaba Mohammadzadeh (21), a Kurdish citizen residing in Mashhad, was also killed in the same protests.

Additionally, Hassan Sabet-Qeysvandi, a citizen from Kermanshah; Kamran Naderi (50), a teacher from Shabad (Eslamabad-e Gharb) and resident of Kermanshah; and Reza Naderi (27), a young man from Kermanshah, were killed as a result of gunfire by military and security forces.

Mehdi Rahmati, a citizen from Divandarreh and resident of Tehran, has also been reported among those killed in these protests.
