Identities of Five Kurdish Citizens Killed in Dey Protests Confirmed

During the civil protests held on Thursday and Friday, 8–9 January 2026, at least five more citizens were killed in the cities of Karaj, Kangavar, and Ilam as a result of direct gunfire by Iranian regime security forces.

According to reports, on Thursday, 8 January, Yousef Bakhshi, a 27-year-old from Quchan and a resident of Karaj; Kianoush Shirin-Bayan, a 39-year-old from Sahneh and also residing in Karaj; and Moein Abbaspour, from Ilam and living in Karaj, were shot and killed during protests in the city of Karaj after being directly targeted by security forces.

On the same day, Ali Gardkaneh, a 27-year-old from Kangavar, was killed during protests in that city as a result of direct fire by security forces. As the crackdown continued, on Friday, 9 January 2026, Saeed Safari, a 49-year-old from Ilam, was also killed after being shot directly by security forces during public protests in the city.
