According to a report received by the Kurdistan Human Rights Association (KMMK) on Sunday, August 18, 2024, the body of Taimur Yusufnejad, a refugee who died this June due to the overturning of a boat in Italian waters, arrived in his hometown after two months.
This Kurdish refugee died on the morning of Sunday, June 16, 2024, after the boat carrying the refugees overturned in the waters off the coast of Italy due to drowning.
In this accident, out of 76 refugees who were mostly Kurds, only 11 were finally saved and the rest died due to drowning, severe sunburn and hunger and thirst.
