According to K.M.M.K., on Thursday, May 1, 2025 , political prisoner Alireza Rezaei — who had been arrested during the nationwide protests in 2019 — died in the central prison of Behbahan, located in Khuzestan Province. His death was reportedly caused by severe health issues and the lack of access to adequate and effective medical treatment in specialized facilities.
According to informed sources, two officials identified by the surnames “Moshtaqi” and “Aghajeri” were responsible for refusing to transfer Rezaei to specialized medical centers, despite his critical condition.
It is worth noting that there have previously been reports of prisoner deaths in this facility due to the absence of medical staff during night shifts and overcrowding in the prison.
