According to reports, the death sentences of four prisoners were carried out in the early hours of Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Urmia Central Prison, also known as Darya Prison. The individuals executed included two women, Mojgan Azarpisheh and Kosar Bagherzadeh, and two men, Arshad Farzadband and Hamed Faraji. All had been convicted of premeditated murder and sentenced to qisas (retribution in kind).
Details of the Executed Individuals:
•Mojgan Azarpisheh, 31, from Urmia, had been in detention for six years on charges of premeditated murder.
•Kosar Bagherzadeh, 24, from Naqadeh, was arrested four years ago on similar charges and sentenced to execution.
•Arshad Farzadband, 28, from Urmia, was detained three years ago for premeditated murder.
•Hamed Faraji, 28, also from Urmia, was arrested five years ago on the same charges.
Reports indicate that the executions were carried out without prior public announcement and were not covered by state-affiliated media.
