The Supreme Court of Iran upheld the death sentence of Shaker Behrooz

KMMK:
On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, Branch 31 of the Supreme Court of Iran upheld the death sentence of Shaker Behrooz.
The trial of Shaker Behrooz on the charge of murdering a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps was held on December 7, 2020 in Branch 1 of the Criminal Court in Urmia, and he was sentenced to death in December of that year.
It should be noted that this political prisoner was sentenced to death in a situation where 12 people witnessed the presence of Shaker Behrooz at the time of the murder in a shop in Dizaj town of Urmia city and have repeatedly stated that they are ready to testify, but the Revolutionary Court refused to accept testimony or have not heard their statements.
It is noteworthy that the family of the killed IRGC member complained to Shaker Behrooz under the pressure of the Revolutionary Guards security organs, and the IRGC threatened the family, “If they don’t file a complaint against Shaker Behrooz for murder, their rights will be cut off from the Martyr Foundation.”
Shaker Behrooz became a member of one of the Kurdish parties opposed to the Iranian government in 2018 and returned to Iran in September of the same year with a letter of amnesty. After returning to Iran, he was detained by Ministry of Intelligence forces and released after 14 days of interrogation. Mr. Behrooz was arrested by security forces on March 31, 2017 on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and was transferred to Iran’s Central Prison in the city of Urmia on Saturday, April 1, 2017, after enduring approximately one month in detention.
Shaker Behrooz was transferred to Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in the fifth month of his detention and was sentenced to 5 years in prison in a three-minute trial on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
In a case filed against him in the spring of 2020 Shaker Behrooz was charged again with adultery through membership in an opposition party (Komala) and the murder of a member of the Revolutionary Guards.
He was sentenced to death by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Ali Sheikh Lou, on charges of adultery through membership in Komala and the murder of a member of the Revolutionary Guards.
This ruling was violated by the Supreme Court in July this year and was referred to the same branch for reconsideration.
Shaker Behrooz, Son of Salim, 33 years old, is single and a resident of Dizaj region of Urmia.
