On Monday, September 8, 2025 Imad Darafdade, a 19-year-old citizen and civil engineering student at Urmia University from Piranshahr, was arrested after visiting the office of Iran’s intelligence forces in Piranshahr.
According to a report received by the KMMK News Center, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, intelligence forces raided the residence of this citizen and detained his 70-year-old father, Rahman Darafdade, transferring him to the intelligence office.
The arrest and hostage-taking of the 70-year-old father occurred while the regime’s security forces raided the Darafdade family home. After learning that Imad Darafdade was not present, they took his father to the intelligence office. Following seven hours of interrogation and pressure, the elderly man was released in exchange for providing information about his son.
Imad Darafdade is related to Komar Darafdade, a young victim of the Gen Zian Freedom Uprising in 2022–2023, whose family has repeatedly faced threats and pressure from Iran’s security agencies.
As of the preparation and publication of this report, the reason for Imad Darafdade’s arrest and his place of detention remain unknown.
