On Monday, October 17, 2022, the detention period of 34-year-old “Saman Ghazali”, a former political prisoner from Mahabad, was extended for another 15 days.
According to the report, Saman Ghazali was detained by the security forces of the Iranian government on Sunday October 16, without a court order, and was taken to Iran’s intelligence agency in Urmia. After passing an interrogation period on October 10th, he was transferred to Iran’s central prison in Urmia. This former political prisoner was tortured and physically abused during the interrogation.
Saman Ghazali has been denied the right to contact his family for 11 days and is in limbo. He is on a hunger strike due to limbo and illegal detention.
Previously, Saman Ghazali, a civil activist from Mahabad, was released from Iran’s prison in Mahabad after serving 9 months of imprisonment including amnesty.
