Report on human rights violations in March 2023

The Human Rights Violation Report in March 2023 is the effort of the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, which is summarized based on the reports collected by this human rights organization.
This report is not a complete report due to the Iranian government’s disallowance of human rights organizations and groups, and only depicts a part of human rights violations in Kurdistan.
By detaining Kurdish citizens, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has violated the civil, political and social rights of the Kurdish people and continues this policy. Violation of freedom of opinion and expression, violation of the right to life and personal security, and government discrimination are things that are done daily by the Iranian government.

In continuation of the inhumane and hostile policies of the Iranian government, this month we witnessed the execution of 16 people and the death sentence for 4 of our citizens.

Arrest and prison

detention and imprisonment of citizens have continued to increase this month
According to the statistics compiled this month, more than 37 of our compatriots have been arrested in eastern Kurdistan, of which 13 have been sentenced to prison, four of whom were women.

The direct fire of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards has resulted in the wounding of 3 Kolbers, who are being treated in medical centers due to the severity of the injuries caused by the direct fire.

Murder and suicide

The number of suicides is still increasing and unfortunately we have seen an increase in the suicide of citizens and especially teenagers under the age of 18. In this month, more than 3 citizens have committed suicide, among them, 1 woman has been killed and 1 other person has committed suicide, and 1 man has also committed suicide.

According to the reports received by the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, 2 Citizens have been seriously injured by landmine explosions this month.

Shooting at ordinary people

In continuation of the systematic program of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to destroy and kill people, 6 people were targeted by the direct fire of these forces and were killed, and another 1 citizen died in prison due to the lack of medical attention.

In the end, the Kurdistan Human Rights Association asks the Kurdistan community and people to be diligent in achieving their legal and natural rights and to publicize any human rights violations and to be diligent in creating a free society.
