Austria; A Kurdish asylum seeker goes on a hunger strike by sewing his lips
KMMK:
On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, a former Kurdish political prisoner identified as “Kamran Darvish” went on a hunger strike after about 11 months of seeking asylum in Austria.
The former Kurdish prisoner went on a hunger strike to protest the uncertainty of his case and the decision of the authorities to evict him from the building.
It should be noted that Kamran Darvishi had previously gone on a hunger strike by sewing his lips in protest of his detention in a prison for dangerous crimes while serving his sentence in the Iranian government prison in Urmia.
It should be noted that he was arrested by the Iranian government security forces on May 3, 2016 and was tortured and interrogated in the detention facilities of the security agencies.
Then in November of that year, he was sentenced by the Iranian Revolutionary Court in Urmia to 5 years in prison on charges of acting against national security by collaborating with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
This citizen was released in December 2020 after enduring 4 years and 8 months in prison.
Then, due to Iranian security pressures, he was forced to leave Kurdistan and take refuge in Austria.
