Request for the cancellation of the 3 year prison sentence of Teacher from Saqez in eastern Kurdistan by Teachers’ Trade Unions

In the report to the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, during the trial of a teacher from Saqez city, Taher Ghaderzadeh, who was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment by the District Court, the Kurdish Teachers’ Association in Saqez and Marivan, by issuing separate statements, called for the lifting of the verdict against this Kurdish teacher.

It should be recalled that Mr. Ghaderzadeh was arrested on bail on March 2017, on charges of disturbing the general order, and before this new sentence was imposed on the court for 3 months and one day of imprisonment on charges of disturbing public opinion and attempting to organize. Teachers’ protests were condemned.

As part of the statement by the Teachers’ Association, the current crisis of education is one of the worst crises in our society, and it is clear that this crisis has an organic connection with all aspects of our social and cultural life and, in this regard, witnesses the continuous and compassionate efforts of teachers such as Mr. Taher Ghaderzadeh, in spite of reducing the existing problems of education, we are confronted with a lawsuit against them, rather than praise them.
